Via Crucis – clean up time

An email I just sent to all the Via Crucis station creators and amazing helpers….

I can’t even begin to tell you how wonderfully pleased I am with how Via Crucis has gone. This year it moved from a VC thing to a Cincinnati Body of Christ thing, from a one time event to a week long pilgrimage. A friend sent me an email of someone who went through it, this is how they described the experience – “Wow. Beautiful, wonderful, marvelous, creative, personal, powerful, Christ-filled.”

And now it is almost that time where in our house we would begin singing the “clean up time” song…. “It’s clean up time, it’s clean up time, time to clean up….. time to pick up your toys, time to put away your blocks…. time to clean up”

The Plan:
- Sunday, 4-8 pm
- Monday 4-8 pm
- During those times the building will be open so you can come take down your station AND help with general clean up of the space. If you need a different time let me know.
- We have to be completely out of there by Monday evening, cuz on Tuesday the folks for the International Prayer Summit will be setting up (by the way you are invited to this)

Oh, and thanks to some great last minute pinch-hitters we have friday and saturday covered for curating! Which means that we were able to keep it open from 11-11 everyday this week with no gaps. Good Job Everybody!

Thinking ahead…. I would like to do Via Crucis :: Immersion every 2 years (or every other… that always confuses me… the next one would be 2008). Its a big event and while yearly consistency would be nice on the one hand. On the other hand, having 2 years to build momentum is nice. And it allows our local congregations to do something different on off years. I know at VC I’d like to do things that I just didn’t have the energy for this year. I welcome your thoughts on this. I am already starting to dream of what next time could look like…. I’d love to get 14 different churches to each do a station, and we may reconfigure the stations using the “new” stations that were published a few years ago in that book some of us looked at. And I’ve been thinking about a big banner in front of the building…. something tasteful, inviting, and intriguing….

Also, I would really like to know your thoughts on the whole experience for you, your community, your station creation process, etc… What went really well for you and in general? What could have been better? What are some ways we can make Via Crucis better next time? Do you want to be involved again? How did God use this experience in your life – both the creative process, event collaboration, and event experience?

I know this was another long email. I can’t help it… so much to say. I love what God has done and is doing in and through us this year, I have a sense that he is starting something… bigger than Via Crucis or any of us …. that this week was a catalyst. I’m really proud and honored to be a part of this. I’m thankful that I got to do this with all of you. Please believe me when I say …. YOU ROCK!

Super-duper Amazing Blessings all over you,
ak
